How do you convince your dog to cross a large body of water in a relatively straight line on a consistent basis? Asking for a friend.

Start blinds on land, can use markers to keep dog in a line direction and slowly take away until consistent on land and then you go to the water. Line drills also help with this and drills sending your dog in specific directions without touching your dog and just turning in the direction you want to send your dog. Hope this helps!

Hope this is working. We used ladders on land and then went to water. Slowly got bumpers to the opposite shore (about 50 yds) then placed a dead duck at waters edge. Dragged duck up shore and removed ladders. Then went back to ladder work with a 75 yd distance, duck at shore then dragged duck up bank. Rinse and repeat for 100 and 125. We did not use buckets.
