Just wanted to stop and share about our Youth events for the 2026 season.
Our chapter will be hosting 3 Adventure Days this season. Each participant will get an orange hunting vest and a handmade wooden shotgun.
We were able to get some amazing sponsorships and donations from businesses as well as private donors.
Saturday, May 9th was our first event, we had 11 kids sign up and come out to Four Brooks WMA. Our first day was filled with learning about NAVHDA testing and the kids got to watch first hand some handlers and their pups running their NA test. We also spent some time learning about safe gun handling. After talking about safety, we had the kids out for a walk in the field to practice what they learned. We ended the afternoon letting then paint and decorate the wooden rifles.
Our second event will be based around bird identification. The kids will learn to identify MN native birds. The kids will get to decorate and build a wood duck house to take home as well.
Our third event will be based around plant identification. We have a guest speaker coming to talk about different native MN plants. Kids will get a plant and a packet of wildflower seeds to take home with them.
I am so excited about this years events and the idea of growing our chapter’s youth program.
I would love to hear about what other chapters are doing.
